Don’t miss this unique opportunity for yoga teachers, doulas, labor and delivery nurses, childbirth educators and midwives interested in teaching postnatal yoga. This training covers the postpartum period from both a physical as well as mental/emotional and spiritual perspective. Participants will come away with a rich understanding of this most important transition. This training counts toward meeting Yoga Alliance’s continuing educational requirements.
In this training we will cover:
· How the physiological process of pregnancy and birth affect the postpartum period.
· Regaining support and stabilization of joints, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy.
· Using Yoga to address common postnatal complaints including back pain, joint destabilization, weakness of abdominals and pelvic floor, neck and shoulder pain.
· Balancing the emotions in the postpartum period.
· Asana modifications, indicated and contraindicated poses.
· Postnatal Yoga Sadhana.
· Mindfulness and early motherhood encouraging a peaceful transition into motherhood.
· How yoga can aid in connection between mothers and their infants.
· Yoga and breastfeeding.
About Carrie....
Carrie Parker Gastelu is a E-500 hour registered Yoga Instructor and Director of Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training for Yoga Works. Carrie is also a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and teaches Yoga-centered Holistic Childbirth Education and Mindful Parenting workshops, incorporating yogic principals into everyday family life. On her journey as a birth professional, Carrie has studied with many other inspiring and amazing teachers including: Pan England, Midwife and Author; Jean Sutton, Midwife; Michel Odent, MD; Ina May Gaskin; Midwife; Henci Goer, Author and Activist; and Suzanne Arms, Author. Carrie is known for inspiring women to rely on inner strength, courage and intuition to have a peaceful and empowering birth experience and transition into motherhood. Carrie is also the mother of three children, after yoga filled pregnancies and beautiful births.
